This kit contains fossils and fossil reproductions of several different species of trilobites, as well as related fossil fauna. An illustrated book helps teach students about various aspects of trilobite group, including the characteristics and appearances of its members, their life habits, their paleoenvironments, and their predators. By focusing on one group of fossils, the kit demonstrates the type of information that can be learned and appreciated from fossil study in general. Although the overall kit is written for the third grade to upper elementary students, additional explorations of the fossil record, geologic time, and extinction can be pursued by students in middle and high schools.
