Grades Targeted: one kit for grades 6 and below, one kit for grades 7 and above

This kit teaches students to identify common minerals through hardness testing and observation of other physical characteristics. Of the two kits available, the kit that is recommended for grades 7 and higher contains glass plates, ceramic streak plates, pennies, nails, hand lenses, a vial of dilute HCl, and ten of seven different mineral specimens. The kit recommended for grades 6 and lower contains all except the HCl and have six different minerals instead of seven.
