Chesapecten jeffersonius, the state fossil of Virginia, is featured in this educational kit. For younger students, there is a simple activity to observe and draw the fossil, and for grades 9 and higher, there is an activity geared to learning how to study fossils in detail by studying Chesapecten jeffersonius. Included are three sets of labeled specimens for the upper level questions, as well as five miscellaneous specimens, and one specimen which is encrusted with another fossil.
