This kit focuses on paleontology within Virginia and allows up to four groups of students to engage in nine different activities, such as determining if an object is a fossil, contrasting between fossil types, paleoecological reconstruction, relative and absolute dating, and using the steps of the scientific method to answer questions. Play-doh, sediment, fossils, and other materials are included to facilitate these activities. The first two activities may be performed by fifth graders, but the overall kit is targeted mainly towards the ninth grade.
