VT SPRING BREAK EVENT
Museum OPEN HOUSE on Thursday, March 12, 2015 from 3:00-7:00 pm. Stop by and learn more about the collections and hands-on resources available. Bring your "unknown" rocks and minerals: we will try to identify them.

This event will be of interest to pK-12 teachers, Virginia Master Naturalists, 4-H leaders, homeschoolers, rockhounds, and others interested in Earth Science and local geology.

Welcome to our upcoming groups: Cub Scouts, Kindergarten to College, and Magna Vista High School!

Public Hours: usually Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.  Free Admission.
We occasionally have Saturday hours. Those will be announced here and in media.

Study tables and wireless connectivity are available.

The Museum serves as the pick-up and drop-off site for materials loaned from the Education Resource Center.

Derring Hall [37°13' 46.6"N, 80°13' 35.6"W] is located at 1405 Perry Street near West Campus Drive, close to the Duck Pond on the Virginia Tech campus. See VT Maps--Derring is on the "central campus" map. For safety, school busses can loop in to drop students off by the door of Derring Hall, then go park.

Free parking passes* for weekdays before 5pm are available from the VT Visitor Information Center [37.23108° N, 80.43429°W] and at the Perry Street Parking Garage. The Derring lot is closed for construction, but there are several lots not too far from the Museum.
*No pass is needed for evenings or weekends.
